FREE Windows Phone Development Webinar Series Starts in June and July

A free seven-part webinar series on Windows Phone development will be presented in June and July by Microsoft DevExpress.com. Each webinar explores an aspect of the Windows Phone platform and offers practical insights into the mobile development options offered by Windows Phone. The webinars are presented by Chris Williams, XNA MVP.
All DevExpress webinars are free and open to all developers. The webinars start at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Developers must register for the webinars at the DevExpress website.

June 16: A Deeper Dive into XNA on Windows Phone This webinar covers using the phone-specific features with XNA in more depth. Topics covered include touch input and gestures, the accelerometer, accessing the camera, and more. June 23: A Deeper Dive Into Silverlight on Windows Phone This webinar covers using the phone-specific features with Silverlight in more depth. Topics covered include touch input and gestures, the accelerometer, accessing the camera, and more. June 30: Building a Scrolling Tile Engine with XNA on Windows Phone This webinar shows basic techniques for creating games that use a scrolling tiled map. Displaying sprites (2D graphics) is also covered. |
July 7: Building a Pathfinding System using Waypoints with XNA on Windows Phone This webinar builds on the previous webinar (June 30) to provide a degree of artificial intelligence for the creatures in your game by creating a system of waypoints that they can use to navigate the terrain on your map. July 14: Using the Push Notifications Service in Your Apps or Games This webinar explains the Microsoft Push Notification Service and how to use it to create Tile, Toast and Raw (in-app) updates. July 21: Making Money from Free Apps with the Microsoft Ad SDK This webinar covers the concepts behind ad-supported software. It includes setting up an account in Microsoft PubCenter, setting up applications and ad units in Pubcenter, and using the Ad SDK to show ads in your apps and games. |
